Pleasanton Community Chinese School is founded by a group of volunteer parents who are interested in creating an educational environment for the children of the Tri-Valley area to learn the Traditional Chinese Writing characters while learning to read and speak in either Mandarin or Cantonese dialects.
Even though Pleasanton Community Chinese School is a new organization, one of the founding parents have over 18 years of total experience in organizing and running this type of organization. The Hsia family has been living in Pleasanton since 1992 and were one of the co-founders of the Miliptas Community Chinese School (in Milpitas) in 1995. Back in 1995, there weren't enough interest to start such a school in Pleasanton and the Tri-Valley area. As the Asian population grew in the Tri-Valley Area in the last 3 years, there is a growing need to establish such a volunteer Language School in the area.
Pleasanton Community Chinese School is organized by a group of volunteer parents. Currently, there is a core group of parents who make up the
PCCS School Steering Council or the
Board. The
Board consists of Principal, Vice Principal, Dean of Mandarin, Dean of Cantonese, Dean of Culture Class, Treasurer, Secretary and Parent Representative. In addition, we also have
Parent Volunteers who are actively helping the School but is not a member of the Board. Finally, the most important part of the School is the
Teachers. The Teachers are carefully screened and interviewed before they are 'hired'. There is an interview committee that interviews the prospective candidates and makes the hiring decisions.
